VIKING VIBES

Students can earn Viking Vibes for practicing and exhibiting growth in the following areas:
  • 3 B’s - Be Safe, Be Respectful, Be Responsible
  • Mindfulness Techniques - Mindful Breathing, Mindful Listening, Mindful Gratitude, Mindful Thinking, Mindful Body Awareness, Mindful Emotions, Mindful Heartfulness
  • Social Emotional Learning (S.E.L.) School Wide Core Skills - Self Awareness, Self Management, Social Awareness, Relationship Skills, Responsible Decision Making
 

INDEPENDENT VIKINGS

Students are encouraged to apply for Independent Viking status. The application includes criteria such as having good attendance, exemplary behavior in class and taking responsibility for homework and class work. Successful applicants are provided with a photo ID. Independent Vikings are awarded privileges including use of the quad area outside at lunch instead of having to eat in the cafeteria and an occasional lunch with the principal or vice principal.

  • Manners being used with all in our school community.

  • Assignments following due dates
  • Strong Effort
 

MONTHLY ATTENDANCE INCENTIVES

  • 95% Attendance is the GOAL
  • 3 tardies = absence
  • 1 tardy over 30 minutes = absence
Rewards: Goodie bags, dance, pizza, popsicles, free dress, music in the quad
 

TRIMESTER AWARDS

Students are recognized for their behavior, Acadience (reading assessments), i-Ready growth, grades, and attendance
 

ACTS OF PEACE FUZZY JARS

When students practice kindness, the teacher places a fuzzy in the jar. When the classroom’s “fuzzies” are all used up, they have filled up their jar, and will be recognized on a bulletin board.
  • 1 JAR = EXTRA RECESS
  • 3 JARS = FREE DRESS
  • 5 JARS = PIZZA PARTY
 

GOLDEN TRAY AWARDS

Classrooms are recognized with a golden tray on a bulletin board in the cafeteria for lunchtime behavior, manners, and clearing up after themselves
 

POSITIVE OFFICE COMMENDATION AWARD

Teachers complete a positive office commendation form for students practicing the 3 B’s, mindfulness techniques, and S.E.L. school wide core skills. The principal will call home to praise the student’s efforts.
